Amit Shah to honour Meghalaya Police on Oct 5

Shillong: Union home minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Shillong to participate in the presentation ceremony of President of India’s Police Colour to the Meghalaya Police on Oct 5.Shah is scheduled to arrive in the state capital on Oct 4.“Elaborate preparations have been made for the coming of the Union home minister that is slated for Oct 4 and 5, and advisories will be given by the SP traffic on which route to avoid, the timings, so that we will try to cause the least inconvenience,” East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem said on Thursday. He said “lot of meticulous planning” has been made considering the traffic flow in the city.An elaborate security arrangement has been made all along the way that Shah would take. “Tactical teams and different units have come, so a strength of about 1,500 personnel will be deployed,” the SP said.Shah will present President of India’s Police Colour to Meghalaya Police, one of the few police forces in the northeast to receive the honour.“The home minister is coming here for the prestigious ceremony of the Presidential Colours and this is a matter of pride for the Meghalaya Police; it is a matter of achievement. We are one of the few northeastern states who have achieved this,” Syiem said.“This is because of the sacrifice, the integrity, the dedication in our service and we will endeavour to give the best in whatever we do to the public and ensure that policing reaches its zenith in professionalism, in delivery and in integrity,” he added.
