Hyderabad: Task Force sleuths have arrested seven people allegedly involved in hashish oil sale and consumption in the city and seized the contraband worth Rs 3.12 crore from their possession.In the first case, the Task Force’s Jubilee Hills zone team, along with the Borabanda police, arrested Lasangi Yakobu alias Venkat and Yendrapalli Suri Babu, both auto drivers from Alluri Sitharama Raju district in Andhra Pradesh, near a bus stop in Erragadda on Sunday night.Police seized 23.7 litres of hashish oil and two mobile phones, all worth Rs 2.96 crore, from their possession. The duo collected the contraband, which was originally sourced from an Odisha-based supplier near Killamkota in Andhra Pradesh and brought it by train to Hyderabad. “They were planning to deliver it to a peddler in Bengaluru. Yakobu, who was earlier arrested in a ganja case in 2016, has been absconding in an NDPS case registered at Borabanda PS in 2025,” Hyderabad police commissioner VC Sajjanar said.In the second operation, the Task Force’s Secunderabad zone team, along with the Jubilee Hills police, arrested three peddlers, Bonangi Chinnayya Padal of Alluri Sitharamaraju district, P Bharath Kumar of Jagadgirigutta and Mohammad Shoaib of Jubilee Hills, along with consumers Bogam Kalyan Teja of Balanagar and Tudapalli Uday Kumar of Jagadgirigutta, near a restaurant on Road No. 10, Jubilee Hills, on Sunday. Police seized 1.2 litres of hashish oil, four mobile phones and a two-wheeler, worth Rs 16 lakh, from their possession. A key accused, identified as Lobby, a resident of Odisha, was absconding.According to the commissioner, Bharath Kumar and Shoaib were repackaging hashish oil into small containers and selling each for Rs 3,000 to customers. The accused, along with the seized contraband, were produced before the court and sent in judicial remand.
