Harish Rao Accuses Congress Govt of Contradicting Farmer Scheme Figures

Hyderabad: Former minister T Harish Rao said the Congress govt ministers were contradicting their own figures on expenditure on farmers schemes. He said while deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka claimed the govt had spent ₹1.56 lakh crore for farmers, CM Revanth Reddy claimed the expenditure was ₹1.75 lakh crore.“Which of these figures is true?” Harish Rao asked in a statement on Tuesday, alleging that the Congress leadership was resorting to fabricated statistics because it had little to show on the ground. He further questioned how the govt could claim to have spent between ₹1.56 lakh crore and ₹1.75 lakh crore on agriculture by June 2026 when the total budget allocation for the agriculture department up to 31 March 2027 was only about ₹82,000 crore.“Has the government spent money that was never allocated in the budget, or are these imaginary figures meant to mislead farmers?” he asked. He alleged that the CM Revanth Reddy was attempting to divert public attention from the govt’s failure to implement its election promises by staging publicity events in the name of farmers.Harish Rao questioned what the government had actually delivered to farmers apart from publicity stunts under the banner of Rythu Bharosa. He said the govt continued to make tall claims while ignoring the real issues faced by the farming community. He also accused the Congress govt of betraying farmers on the promise of ₹2 lakh farm loan waiver. During the elections, Congress sought votes by promising a comprehensive waiver, but agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao has now clarified that the waiver applies only to short-term crop loans, Harish Rao said.“If the Congress had honestly stated before the elections that the waiver would be restricted only to short-term loans, would farmers have trusted the party?” he asked.Harish Rao alleged that promising one thing in the election manifesto and implementing something entirely different after assuming office reflected the Congress govt’s deceptive approach towards farmers.ends/
