Ahmedabad: Teachers of govt engineering colleges in Gujarat have announced a protest over their long-pending issues, which remain unresolved despite repeated representations to the state govt and the technical education department. The demonstration is scheduled to take place near the CTE office at Karmayogi Garden in Gandhinagar at 3pm on Thursday. The participants will wear black clothes and carry black flags as a mark of protest. The Gujarat State Govt Engineering Colleges Academic Gazetted Officers’ Association stated that it has submitted multiple written and verbal requests highlighting the concerns of faculty members working in various govt engineering colleges. However, the authorities have allegedly shown a lack of responsiveness toward their legitimate demands. One of the key demands includes counting service from GPSC diploma posts toward GPSC degree service for Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) benefits. Other major issues raised by the association include granting pending no objection certificates (NOCs) for ME, MTech and PhD qualifications with retrospective effect, ensuring salary protection and providing necessary relaxations for faculty members serving on deputation.Faculty members expressed concern over the continued neglect of their rightful demands, calling it a serious matter affecting morale and career progression. The association has directed five office-bearers from each unit to attend the protest. They also warned that if their demands are not addressed even after this demonstration, preparations are underway to launch a statewide protest in the coming days.
