Colva: Congress’s Goy Rakhonn Yatra entered Salcete on Tuesday, drawing thousands of supporters and constituents for a march of more than five kilometres from Benaulim to Varca.Addressing the gathering at Varca, opposition leader Yuri Alemao urged voters not to back parties other than Congress, arguing that a split in votes would benefit BJP. He said the party’s candidate for Benaulim will be finalised after a survey, with contenders assessed on merit.Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar alleged that BJP was encouraging other political parties to divide the Congress vote — an approach he claimed had contributed to the party’s past electoral defeats. He said Congress would not be distracted in the run-up to the elections and would remain focused on its campaign agenda.
