Ahmedabad: The long-awaited admission process for the two-year diploma in elementary education course (earlier PTC) in Gujarat has finally begun, with the admission committee announcing the schedule for 211 colleges offering 19,044 seats across the state. The first round of online seat allotment will be conducted on Oct 9 at 6pm.The Class 12 board exam results were declared by Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board on May 4, after which students registered for PTC admissions. However, the process was delayed by nearly eight months due to technical issues, including approvals for colleges, verification by National Council for Technical Education (NCTE) and a matter that eventually reached the high court. The prolonged delay had caused considerable uncertainty among thousands of students and parents.Following govt approval, the admission committee has now released the allotment schedule. A total of 50,822 students completed the choice-filling for admission. Students were also given the opportunity to modify their choices.Of the 19,044 available seats, 16,424 are in Gujarati-medium colleges, while 310 seats are in English medium and 189 in Hindi medium. Seats are also available in Marathi and Urdu medium institutions.Students allotted seats in the first round are required to visit their respective colleges between Oct 10 and 15 to confirm their admission. The second round of allotment will be held on Oct 17 at 6pm, followed by a confirmation period from Oct 18 to 22.The committee has also announced the schedule for the 15% management quota seats in self-financed institutions. Colleges will publish advertisements and accept applications from Oct 18 to 22. Approval of the management quota admission list will be completed between Oct 25 and 27.Students and institutions have been urged to complete all admission formalities within the stipulated deadlines.
