Chandigarh: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday felicitated three students who scored a perfect 500 out of 500 marks in the Punjab School Education Board Class XII exams.Mann presented Supneet Kaur from Mansa, and Suhani Chauhan and Divyanshi from Ludhiana, with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 each.Interacting with the students, Mann said all three toppers were national or state-level sportspersons and belonged to humble backgrounds.“It is a matter of immense pride that they are excelling in every field through hard work and dedication,” he said.Sharing details of the results, Mann said around 2.65 lakh students had appeared in the examinations, of whom nearly 2.42 lakh passed, taking the overall pass percentage to 91.46%.He said the pass percentage among girls stood at 94.73%, compared to 88.52% among boys. Amritsar recorded the highest district pass percentage at 96%.Mann added that Patiala had the highest number of merit holders, with 59 students making it to the merit list.He also pointed out that girls continued to outperform boys, with 217 girls and 61 boys figuring in the merit list.
