Ghaziabad: A 5.8km stretch of Outer Ring Road will be extended to connect Harnandipuram township with Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) through Pipeline Road.Ghaziabad Development Authority said the first phase of the township, covering 336 hectares in Mathurapur, Shamsher and Nangla Feroze Mohan Nagar, will be launched under the CM Urban Expansion scheme around Diwali. It has recently submitted an application for registering the project — to cover a total of 521 hectares across eight villages — with UP Real Estate Regulatory Authority.“The EPE link is a key differentiator for the Harnandipuram township. It has been proposed that the link road will be developed by bypassing villages, which we are in the process of acquiring for the township,” a GDA official said. The EPE link will also ensure the township’s direct accessibility to Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, Delhi-Meerut Expressway and western UP districts.GDA had in Feb last year scaled down the project and dropped three villages — Shahpur Morta, Bhowapur and Morta, covering about 151 hectares — from the first phase, citing high costs. It had to acquire 127 hectares of private land for the township, while the rest already belongs to GDA and gram sabha. A total of 79 hectares was acquired by Aug, with consent in for another 130 hectares.According to officials, GDA also plans to develop Aero City and Morta international cricket stadium along Outer Ring Road, which connects City Forest areas to Duhai via Noornagar, Morti, Atour Bhowapur, Morta and Shai Nij Morta and offers better connectivity to RNE and Madhuban townships. GDA now wants to acquire up to 400 metres of land along the corridor and sell it to group housing societies. The revenue generated, officials said, could be used to fund Harnandipuram’s connectivity with EPE.
