Gorakhpur: In a bid to strengthen safety measures at Ramgarh Tal, Gorakhpur Development Authority has decided to establish a floating police outpost inside the lake. The facility will be set up at Platform No. 3 and will be managed by the water police, officials said. The floating outpost will house offices for water police personnel, a canteen and a designated docking area for patrol boats. Water police teams will be deployed round the clock to monitor boating and other water-based activities and conduct regular patrols across the lake. The move comes days after a collision between two boats at Ramgarh Tal lake claimed one life. Following the incident, authorities have also prohibited the operation of speedboats after sunset. Water police personnel will ensure strict enforcement of the restriction. To improve surveillance, AI-enabled cameras will be installed at entry and exit points for speedboats. The system will monitor speed violations, deviations from designated waterways and unauthorised entry into restricted zones. Action will be taken against violators.Officials said the existing Lake Queen cruise service operating from Platform No. 3 will be shifted to another location to make way for the facility.GDA vice-chairperson Abhinav Gopal said the outpost would be equipped with all necessary infrastructure, enabling trained water police personnel to respond swiftly to emergencies and carry out rescue operations.
