Panaji: State govt on Thursday decided to improve the mental health of govt employees for better output at work and to provide good governance to the people. State govt has over 63,000 employees.Govt will provide stress management and resilience training to its employees.State govt will work to improve the mental health of students and youths through different mental wellness initiatives, including teacher and educator capacity building programmes.State govt has signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Goa Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (GIPARD) and Shiv Yog Foundation to improve the mental health of govt employees.“Through govt employee wellness programmes, workshops, seminars and training sessions across govt departments and research collaboration with the All India Institute of Ayurveda and Goa University,” MoU said.The foundation will establish a framework for cooperation between the parties in promoting mental health, emotional well-being, education and preventive wellness initiatives in Goa by covering the aspects including YOI breathwork techniques to rejuvenate the body and mind, positive affirmations to rewire the brain and create positive neural pathways and deep meditative programming to awaken the hidden faculties within.Chief minister Pramod Sawant said that the MoU will not only help govt employees to improve their mental health but at the same time students from school, high school and colleges will benefit. “It will help to increase the happiness index of Goa,” he said.Sawant said that Goa is known for the sun, sea, and sand, but govt has added spirituality to it. “Now Goa has become four S, sun, sea, sand and spirituality,” he said. “If mental fitness is good, then govt employees can do better work and provide good governance. This MoU will help students at school and colleges too.”The MoU said that govt is committed to promoting public welfare through initiatives in mental health, education, preventive healthcare, capacity building, and holistic well-being of its employees, students and the general public in Goa.
