Pune: Five faculty members of Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Poona College of Pharmacy (PCP), Pune, have featured in Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists List 2026, released on October 7.The five faculty members are Atmaram Pawar, Varsha Pokharkar, Amarjit Rajput, S L Bodhankar and Amit Kandhare.The Stanford University-Elsevier ranking is based on Scopus citation data up to August 1, 2026. It evaluates scientists worldwide on the basis of a composite citation score (c-score), h-index and research impact across 22 broad fields and 174 sub-fields. The 2026 edition features 3,898 scientists from India, representing 1,185 institutions. Of these, 39 scientists are from Maharashtra and seven are from Pune. Five of the seven scientists from Pune are from Poona College of Pharmacy alone.The institute holds A++ accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and ranks 34th in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). It has more than 1,800 high-indexed research publications and 32 granted patents. Faculty members of the institute have consistently featured in the global top 2% scientists ranking since its inception. This year, they have also been listed in Sci Rank Global 2025 and Scholarly Index Global Top 1000, reflecting their continued research contributions.
