FIR filed over viral video targeting CM

Hyderabad: Several persons, including a YSRCP spokesperson, have been booked by Begum Bazaar police over alleged derogatory remarks against Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy, a video of which was later circulated on social media.According to the FIR, the case was registered following a complaint by advocate Kailash Sajjan, state secretary of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee’s social media department.According to the complaint, the remarks were false, malicious and intended to defame the constitutionally elected CM, hurt the sentiments of people in Telangana, and create hatred and public disaffection. The complainant sought the removal of the video from social media platforms, preservation of uploader details and IP logs, and legal action against those responsible.A case has been registered under sections 192, 352, 353(1) and 353(2) of the BNS, and further investigation into the incident is underway. “The accused have been taken into custody and will be produced before the court,” Goshamahal ACP K Chandra Sekhar Reddy told TOI. Further details on legal action against the accused are awaited.
