Kalyan: The Kalyan Government Railway Police (GRP) on Tuesday registered a case against three Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) functionaries for allegedly illegally entering railway premises and assaulting a deputy station master at Kalyan railway station.The action followed an incident on Monday in which the deputy station master was allegedly assaulted by the MNS functionaries after a junior woman staffer accused him of repeatedly sending her obscene WhatsApp messages and harassing her for nearly six months.The accused MNS functionaries have been identified as Prathamesh Mhatre and two others. Police said the case was registered for allegedly entering railway premises without authorisation and assaulting a government employee.According to the woman’s complaint, the deputy station master allegedly sent her repeated WhatsApp messages and asked her to come to his residence. As the man was her senior, she initially ignored the messages. However, the alleged harassment continued, prompting her to complain to the station master on two to three occasions.The station master allegedly reprimanded the deputy in the woman’s presence, but the messages reportedly continued. Frustrated by the alleged harassment, the woman approached MNS functionaries and informed them about the matter.The MNS workers then accompanied her to the man’s office, where they allegedly confronted him and showed him the messages on her mobile phone. The confrontation subsequently turned violent, with the MNS workers allegedly assaulting him.Kalyan GRP personnel reached the railway station after being alerted about the incident and intervened.Police have also registered a case against the deputy station master based on the woman’s complaint and are examining the alleged WhatsApp messages and other evidence.
