The sentence was awarded by the Court of the Additional District and Sessions Judge.According to Kurukshetra district attorney, the convict Vishal, a resident of Ladwa, Kurukshetra district, was found guilty in a case registered on the complaint of a local woman. In her complaint lodged at Ladwa police station to Kurukshetra police, the woman stated that she has three children and that her eldest daughter, a minor studying in Class IX at a government school, had gone to school on October 14, 2023. Upon learning that the school was closed, the girl was returning home when the accused allegedly molested her, asked her to sit in his car, and threatened to kill her when she raised an alarm before fleeing the scene.Following the complaint, the police registered a case under relevant sections. The investigation was conducted by sub-inspector Kamlesh Kumari, during which the accused was arrested and sent to judicial custody as per court orders. After completion of the investigation, the challan was presented before the court.After regular hearings, the court, on February 23, 2026, convicted the accused on the basis of witness testimony and documentary evidence. Vishal was sentenced five years’ rigorous imprisonment (RI) in Section 8 (punishment for sexual assault) of the POCSO Act and Rs25,000 fine (two months’ additional imprisonment in default), three years’ RI each under Section 363 (kidnapping) and 365 (kidnapping with intent to secretly and wrongfully confine person) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) with fine of Rs 10,000 each (one month’s additional imprisonment in default in each), one year RI under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and fine of Rs 5,000 (one week’s additional imprisonment in default) and one month’s RI under Section 341 (wrongful restraint) of the IPC with fine of Rs 500 (one week’s additional imprisonment in default).Ends
