Surat: Ankleshwar GIDC police arrested two women for their alleged role in the rape of a 16-year-old girl, while the prime accused, Ahmad Hussain Shaikh alias Kaif, remains absconding.Police arrested Mahima Jadav, a resident of Vapi in Valsad district, and Simran Chandar of Guru Tegbahadur Nagar, Punjab. Police are working to trace Shaikh.According to the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, she travelled to Mumbai on Sept 14 and 15. In her absence, the two women allegedly pressured the minor to develop physical relations with Shaikh. Police said the girl knew the accused and he had promised to marry her.The mother said that she learnt about the incident after returning home and subsequently approached the police. After a preliminary inquiry, Ankleshwar GIDC police registered an offence and took the two women into custody.Police said the complainant runs a spa and had come into contact with the two women through her work. The accused also work at a spa and were familiar with the complainant’s family, which investigators believe enabled access to the minor.
