Pune: A 65-year-old farmer from Indapur and his wife were allegedly abused and thrashed with wooden sticks by their two sons over the sale of a parcel of land belonging to their mother on Aug 30 when the couple were taking an evening walk.The farmer suffered injuries to his face, back, thighs and left shoulder, while his wife suffered injuries to her right wrist and waist. The farmer later approached Indapur police and lodged a complaint. The farmer’s sons have been charged under sections 118 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 351 (criminal intimidation) and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).An officer from the Indapur police said the farmer had taken his ailing wife out for a walk on Aug 30. Their two sons reached the spot in a car and started abusing them over the sale of a parcel of land belonging to their mother. “The duo thrashed their parents with wooden sticks. They threatened them with dire consequences if they did not cancel the deal,” the officer said.The officer said some passersby alerted the police. “Our team took the couple to a hospital. After receiving preliminary treatment, the farmer lodged a complaint against his sons,” he said.
