Noida: A priest who had gone missing after leaving home to perform a puja in Jaunpur returned safely within hours of a missing person report being registered at Sector 113 police station. His family had earlier alleged he was being held captive by three to four persons who were demanding money for his release.In his complaint, Rohit Kumar Tiwari said his father Anil left home around 9.30 am on Sept 5 to go to Jaunpur for the puja, but did not return. Family members tried to locate him and made enquiries but could not reach him on his phone. On Sept 9, they approached Sector 113 police station and lodged a missing person report, with Rohit alleging that his father had been abducted for ransom.As police began investigating and formed a team to trace Anil, the priest returned home. Police said their probe did not substantiate the claim that he had been held captive.According to police, Anil had gone to Jaunpur to perform the puja, where he reportedly had an argument with someone. Police are continuing to verify the circumstances of his disappearance and the account given to his family about his alleged confinement.
