Mumbai: The MRA Marg police in south Mumbai have booked two Wadala residents for allegedly cheating a 65-year-old man of Rs 7.5 lakh promising to arrange a govt job in Mantralaya for his son.An FIR against two accused -Vishwanath Gache and Moreshwar Chorge – was registered on May 4. The complainant, who originally belongs to Nanded came in touch with the accused persons some time ago. The accused claimed they could help him to get a clerk’s job for his son in the state govt’s Public Works Department.Sources said that the accused met the complainant at a restaurant near CSMT railway station and promised a job for his son. The accused demanded Rs 12 lakh. After negotiation, the amount was brought down to Rs 8 lakh.The complainant borrowed Rs 7.5 lakh from fellow farmers. He transferred Rs 1 lakh online and handed over Rs 6.5 lakh in cash to the accused at the same hotel. The accused even arranged a fake medical examination at a hospital and later produced a forged govt appointment letter to maintain the deception.The fraud was exposed when the complainant visited the Mantralaya and officials confirmed the appointment order was fake.Investigation is underway.
