New Delhi: A Delhi court has pulled up police after the force said there was no material on record to support allegations that Tarun Butolia’s family was threatened earlier this month, despite the police previously informing Delhi High Court that it had collected “relevant material including video footage.”Twenty people, including two juveniles, have been named as accused in connection with the death of Tarun (26), who died after a clash on Holi in Uttam Nagar’s JJ Colony on March 4. Additional sessions judge Shivali Bansal told the investigating officer to place the footage along with a report before the court. The matter came up while the court was hearing a plea by Tarun’s family who alleged death threats and caste abuse from relatives of the accused on April 13.The court had directed an ACP to file a report detailing the action taken. However, in the report submitted on Monday, police said the allegations of threat and caste abuse couldn’t be substantiated. The petitioner’s counsel, Sumit Kumar, pointed out the police’s contrary stand before the high court on April 23.The matter has now been listed for May 22.
