Jaisalmer: Police seized a consignment of narcotics worth Rs 30 crore near the India-Pakistan border in Sriganganagar district which was allegedly dropped by a drone from the Pakistan side late Saturday night.The consignment, found in a large packet containing 12 smaller packets, comprised 5.615kg heroin and 508gm opium.The Indian smugglers who had arrived to collect the consignment managed to flee. A search operation has been launched by the police and BSF to track them down.Sriganganagar superintendent of police Harishankar Yadav said villagers in Rawla police station area alerted police around midnight Saturday after hearing the sound of a drone. Acting on the information, a joint team comprising Rawla station house officer Balwant Kumar, CID inspector Shailendra Kumar and BSF personnel conducted a search of the field of Santram Bishnoi, a resident of Chak 14 KND.During the search, the team recovered a large packet dropped by a drone. It contained 12 smaller packets.Preliminary investigation indicated that the narcotics were dropped by a drone from the Pakistan side. No arrest has been reported so far.
