Ludhiana: Police have charged two men with culpable homicide two months after their 27-year-old friend died of a suspected drug overdose.The Division Number 2 police registered a first-information report (FIR) against Vikas, alias Marua, and Manish Kumar, following a complaint by Karamjit Kaur, the sister of Harsharan Singh, the man who died. Karamjit Kaur’s family alleges that the two men administered a fatal narcotic overdose to her brother deliberately.Harsharan Singh went missing on April 23, prompting his family to file a missing person report after a search proved unsuccessful. His body was, later, found near Cheema Chowk.ACP (central) Anil Bhanot said that while the official cause of death awaited a pending toxicology report, investigators had secured critical closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.The video shows Harsharan Singh walking toward a location with the two suspects, who are later seen returning alone. Based on the surveillance evidence, police charged both suspects under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for culpable homicide and acting with common intention.
