Bengaluru: A driver and conductor attached to Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) died and 24 passengers sustained injuries when their bus toppled on Bengaluru-Mysuru access-controlled highway near Bidadi early Saturday morning.The deceased are driver Mithilesh, 35, and conductor Arun Kumar, 40. The bus was heading to the city from Kozhikode and the accident occurred around 6.30am when the vehicle carrying 30 passengers was crossing Avaregere gate, Bidadi police said.Preliminary investigation revealed the bus went on the road median, rammed into the gantry and then toppled. “We suspect the driver must have dozed off and lost the control. We don’t see any other reason behind the accident. The bus was travelling in the middle lane and suddenly veered into right lane before going onto the median,” an officer said.Following the accident, traffic was disrupted for over one hour on the highway. Police used cranes to move the bus.
