Noida: Amid a rise in seasonal diseases, including H1N1, dengue and malaria, the health department has opened a fever clinic at the district hospital. It will operate from 8 am to 2 pm daily.It aims to provide patients quicker access to consultation and treatment by allowing them to avoid long queues and crowded waiting areas. Medicines will also be made available at the spot. It will further reduce pressure on the general OPD and protect others from getting exposed to infection.On its first day, around 60 patients visited the facility, an official said. With five new swine flu cases in the district, the total tally has gone to 209. Gautam Buddh Nagar alone accounts for more than 200 of the over 550 H1N1 cases reported across Uttar Pradesh so far. The district also recorded 56 dengue and 41 malaria cases, according to the health department.The department has also started testing for swine flu at community health centres and district hospitals. CMO Dr Madan Mohan Mani said rapid antigen kits had been sent to the health centres for testing of suspected cases.“Patients should watch for symptoms such as sudden fever, cough, sore throat, body ache, headache, fatigue and, in some cases, runny nose. If fever is persistent or symptoms worsen, they should seek medical attention. Patients should avoid crowded places and wear a mask to prevent transmission,” a senior doctor said.
