Chennai: AIADMK MP I S Inbadurai on Thursday accused the police of denying permission for his party’s final leg of the election campaign in Dharapuram on Oct 4. He alleged that the police arrest people who question TVK candidate P Sathyabama for switching from AIADMK to TVK.In a petition submitted to chief electoral officer Archana Patnaik, Inbadurai said permission for two AIADMK campaign programmes at Sooriyanallur and Nochippalayam in Dharapuram was cancelled at the last minute on Wednesday, citing chief minister C Joseph Vijay’s campaign. Police claimed they would not provide security for the AIADMK meet. AIADMK has also been denied permission for its final campaign in Dharapuram on Oct 4, he said.Inbadurai alleged that three senior AIADMK functionaries in Dharapuram were arrested and that the police opposed their bail pleas. Police have also assaulted people who questioned TVK candidate, he alleged.He said Archana Patnaik had promised that the complaints would be investigated and necessary permissions secured. He urged the ECI to ensure equal treatment for all parties.
