Delivery agent killed in hit and run

Ghaziabad: A 25-year-old delivery agent who worked for an online grocery app was killed in a hit and run while on his way to make a delivery in Indirapuram during the early hours of Tuesday.According to police, Rohit alias Pankaj Baisla, a resident of Arthala in Ghaziabad, was hit by an unidentified four-wheeler in front of the Indian Petrol Pump around 2am on Tuesday. A commuter found Baisla injured on the road and informed police, who reached the spot and brought him to a nearby hospital. Baisla was declared dead on arrival.ACP Indirapuram Abhishek Srivastava said that Baisla’s brother Akshay filed a police complaint. An FIR has been registered under BNS sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) at the Indirapuram police station. Teams were formed to nab the accused, and police are checking the CCTV footage.On May 9 and 10, traffic police conducted a special enforcement drive across the city. Police conducted checks and handed out challans for drunk driving, hooters, sirens, pressure horns and modified silencers — identified as major causes of road accidents. Teams were deployed at 23 key spots across the district.During the drive, 127 people were fined for drunk driving, 289 for use of pressure horns, hooters and sirens, and 170 for using modified silencers. A total of 5,657 challans were issued throughout the two-day drive.
