Gurgaon: A courier office owner has alleged that one of his employees went missing after taking 53 parcels meant for delivery, along with the cash-on-delivery (COD) collection, following which he approached police after failing to trace the employee despite repeated attempts.According to the complaint filed by Rajesh Kumar Saini, a resident of Bijwasan in New Delhi, he runs a courier office near Atul Kataria Chowk. Saini told police that he had been operating the office since September 2022, with around 20 people employed there. The complainant said Vijay Prajapati had joined the office as a delivery worker on Sept 10. On the morning of Sept 13, Prajapati was assigned 53 parcels to be delivered to customers. However, after taking the parcels for delivery, he allegedly failed to return to the office with either the undelivered consignments or the COD money collected from customers.Saini further told police that he tried contacting Prajapati on the phone several times, but the employee did not respond to his calls. The complainant said he subsequently made efforts to trace Prajapati on his own and searched for him at possible locations, but was unable to locate him. With the employee remaining untraceable and the parcels and COD collection allegedly missing, Saini approached police and submitted a formal complaint on Oct 1, requesting legal action against Prajapati.Following receipt of the complaint, police registered a case under Section 316(2) (criminal breach of trust) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Sector 14 police station. Police said the allegations were being investigated and efforts were underway to trace the employee.“We have registered the case and are now investigating the allegations. Efforts are being made to trace the accused employee and ascertain the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the parcels and COD money,” a police officer said.
