Hyderabad: A couple was electrocuted at their house in Ootpally village in Nizamabad district on Sunday night.According to Bodhan rural police, the incident took place at around 10.30 pm on Sunday at the house of a 45-year-old farmer, Sanjeev, in Ootpally.Sanjeev’s wife, Jyothy (40), went out with a set of washed clothes to dry them on the clothesline. As she came into contact with the metal clothesline, Jyothy suffered a severe electric shock. Sanjeev saw his wife in distress and tried to pull her away. He too suffered a severe jolt, and the couple died on the spot,” Bodhan Rural SI J Machender said.The couple’s three children were inside the house at the time of the incident and remained unharmed.“Neighbours noticed the couple and immediately alerted the local electricity department (TGNPDCL) officials. Sanjeev kept a table fan for cattle in the adjacent cattle shed and, for power supply, he pulled a wire from the house. The open joint of the wire came in contact with the clothesline,” the SI said.The bodies of the victims were handed over to the family after the post-mortem on Monday. A case was registered under Section 194 (suspicious death) of the BNSS.
