Police said Chaudhary had encroached on HSVP land in Naharpur Rupa and constructed a dairy near his residence

Gurgaon: Police on Wednesday demolished illegal constructions linked to three criminals, including jailed gangster Kaushal Chaudhary, and cleared encroachments from govt land across multiple locations in the city. The drive targeted encroachments in Harinagar, Naharpur Rupa, Fazilpur Jharsa and near the Basai flyover in Sector 10.Police said Chaudhary, who has 72 criminal cases against him, including 35 in Gurgaon, had encroached on HSVP land in Naharpur Rupa and constructed a dairy near his residence. It was being operated by Ravinder alias Tillu and Satish Kumar, and Chaudhary allegedly threatened Ravinder and forced him to pay around Rs 1.5 lakh per month. In a complaint filed by the HSVP’s survey department, it was alleged that the land was illegally occupied and used for commercial purposes. Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Sector 37 police station on April 6 against Chaudhary under BNS sections for extortion and trespass.Police said Chaudhary has cases registered against him across many states, including Haryana, Punjab, UP and Rajasthan, involving offences such as murder, attempt to murder, extortion and Arms Act violations. He was extradited from Dubai in 2019 and was booked under the UAPA by National Investigation Agency in 2022.The sources said Chaudhary continues to operate his criminal network from jail. In 2022, his gang was involved in a confrontation with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang over control of the liquor trade in the city, leading to multiple shooting incidents. He has also been named in the murder of Youth Akali Dal leader Vicky Middukhera in Mohali in Aug 2021. Chaudhary has also been accused of masterminding the 2022 killing of international kabaddi player Sandeep Singh Nangal Ambian. The demolition drive also targeted properties linked to Mahendra Yadav alias Mahi of UP and Gajepal alias Bhajanlal of Fazilpur Jharsa, both of whom have a criminal history, police said.Investigations have revealed that they had encroached on public land to build houses, dairies and temporary structures, and also set up slum clusters. These were allegedly used to collect rent and support organised criminal activities.“The drive is part of a zero-tolerance policy against organised crime and illegal encroachments. We will take all necessary steps to safeguard our residents and will take stringent action against the anti-social elements,” DCP Hitesh Yadav said, adding that such operations will continue.Police spokesperson Sandeep Turan said the joint action was carried out by teams from Sector 31 police station, Crime Unit Sector 43 and Sikandarpur, in coordination with other departments.Police said a list of around 50 such criminals involved in organised crime has been prepared, and similar action will be taken against them.
