Bengaluru: A city court Monday directed officials of Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara to consider Pavitra Gowda’s request to shift her to another barrack. She is accused no. 1 in Chitradurga’s Renukaswamy murder case. Kamakshipalya police have filed a chargesheet against 17 people, including her and actor Darshan. She had recently filed an application before the court to shift her to a different barrack, citing hygiene and health issues.Pavitra had been shifted to the current barrack accommodating around 30 women prisoners after former MP Prajwal Revanna’s VIP treatment in prison came to light during a raid conducted by Central Crime Branch sleuths. In her petition, she mentioned allergy symptoms, citing the use of a single toilet used by all women prisoners lodged in the prison. The prison officials have been directed to provide her with less crowded accommodation for the time being, subject to availability and security requirements. The court also ordered the authorities to ensure that she receives basic amenities, including adequate drinking water, sanitation, toilet and bathing facilities, in accordance with the applicable rules.Considering her medical condition, the authorities have been directed to provide medical examination, treatment and follow-up care. The court also directed the jail authorities to ensure that women’s safety, dignity and legally-recognised rights as undertrial prisoners are protected. The matter has been posted to Tuesday.A senior prison officer said, “We are yet to receive the court directions. We will take necessary measures according to the prison manual.”
