Gandhinagar: Congress MLAs staged a protest on the Gujarat assembly premises on Thursday over the Bhavnagar hooch tragedy, demanding the resignation of state home minister and accusing the government of failing to curb the illegal liquor and drug network.Wearing aprons and carrying posters, the MLAs raised slogans such as “stop drugs and liquor, save the future of youth” and “stop the liquor network”, before police intervened.Leader of the Congress legislature party Tushar Chaudhary alleged that police were displaying their “bravery” by stopping MLAs instead of acting against large-scale drug and liquor trafficking. “If police have courage, they should act against drugs worth thousands of crores entering the state,” he said.Gujarat Congress president Amit Chavda alleged that people were dying and families were being devastated while the police were unable to control flow of liquor and drugs.
