Jaipur: The man who complained against SOG additional SP Mukesh Kumar Soni and his alleged middleman Sajjan Singh Jain for taking a bribe of Rs 2 crore told Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) that he and his wife were frightened as they feared Soni was keeping them under surveillance, according to the FIR.The complainant told ACB that he could not visit its office for the same reason. He alleged that Soni was demanding Rs 2 crore through Jain in exchange for providing relief to him and his wife in cases against them, not making them accused in other cases and returning documents taken from their house during their arrests.During verification, it was revealed that the complainant had questioned Soni about increasing his demand from Rs 1 crore to Rs 2 crore. Soni allegedly typed two messages on his phone: “Do whatever Sajjan says” and “I will file the chargesheet by 30th.”Jain was arrested on Sept 27 at the complainant’s factory while allegedly accepting a bribe, according to ACB. Of the Rs 2 crore, Rs 4 lakh was genuine currency and the remaining Rs 1.96 crore comprised dummy notes. Soni was arrested from his residence in Balotra on Sept 28.The alleged bribe demand was linked to SOG’s investigation into the 272-plot scam in Udaipur. The case, registered in 2022, concerns allegations that officials and employees of Udaipur Municipal Corporation colluded with others to forge documents related to plots, including allotment letters, possession letters, plot documents and office notes.Investigators suspect the forged documents were later used to obtain lease deeds from the municipal corporation. The plots had originally been part of colonies transferred by Urban Improvement Trust to the municipal corporation in 2012. SOG has so far arrested eight people in the case.According to the FIR, the alleged bribe was being demanded in exchange for providing relief to people already arrested in the case, keeping them out of other cases and returning documents recovered from their houses that had not been formally seized.
