Jaipur: Octave 2026, Ministry of Culture’s flagship showcase of North-East India, will be held at Rajasthan International Centre (RIC) from Oct 1 to 4. Organised by the Western Region Cultural Centre (WRCC), Udaipur, in collaboration with RIC, the four-day festival will open on Oct 1 at 7 pm.“The event will present the art, heritage and living traditions of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. More than 250 folk artists, choreographed by Tarun Pradhan, will perform in an ambience designed by Kolkata-based Anup Giri,” WRCC Director Dr Ashwin M Dalvi stated.Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde will be the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony, with Union Culture and Tourism minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat presiding. RIC Director Nihal Chand Goyal will also be present.The programme features Manipuri Raas, Assam’s Sattriya, Sikkim’s Singhi Chham and Tamang Cello, Tripura’s Hojagiri and Mamita, and Arunachal’s Juju-Jha-Jha and Tai Khamti dances. Ethnic costume shows on Oct 1 and 2 will highlight traditional attire and jewellery.A seminar, craft fair, vegetarian North-Eastern cuisine and a closing performance by Nagaland’s Divine Connection will broaden the cultural experience. The festival returns after earlier editions across Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan, continuing its outreach since 2008 nationally.The event started in 2008 in Goa, and Rajasthan got the opportunity to host this event twice – in Jodhpur and Ajmer in 2012 and in 2016, respectively.
