Jalandhar: Ahead of Union home minister Amit Shah’s rally in Jalandhar on Wednesday, Congress MLA Pargat Singh on Tuesday asked him to clarify the responsibility of Central agencies in controlling drugs, particularly after the Union govt extended the BSF’s jurisdiction to 50 km inside the border in 2021.“BJP is making tall claims about eradicating drugs from Punjab and is asking people to elect a double-engine govt here, but Shah, as home minister, should clarify the role of Central agencies. Major quantities are coming from Gujarat, where they reach through ports. The home minister should clarify who is responsible for stopping these,” he said while addressing a news conference on Tuesday.He claimed that the Centre had failed to check hundreds of factories manufacturing synthetic drugs in Gujarat and Maharashtra.Pargat also criticised the Aam Aadmi Party govt for failing to fulfil its promises to eradicate drugs in Punjab.
