Chandigarh: The city remained hot and humid on Saturday, with the maximum temperature recorded at 36.8 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal.According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in Chandigarh was 25.1 degrees Celsius, which was normal.The city received 1.2mm of rainfall during the 24-hour period ending at 8:30am. The weather office has forecast partly cloudy skies with thunderstorms in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula over the next five days.The maximum temperature is expected to remain between 31 degrees Celsius and 34 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperature is likely to range from 24 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius.The IMD has forecast partly cloudy skies with light rain or thunderstorms from Sept 13 to 17.Residents may get some relief from the heat and humidity if it rains, although the distribution and intensity of rainfall may vary across the Tricity. For the past few weeks, rain has eluded the city despite forecasts.The rain that did occur has been scattered or recorded at isolated places. So far, 659.3mm of rain has been recorded during the monsoon, which is 18.4% below normal. This is the last month of the monsoon season.
