Bengaluru: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has opened the option entry portal on its website from Saturday as part of the first round of seat allotment for admissions to engineering, veterinary, agriculture and other courses under the ambit of Common Entrance Test (CET).Candidates can enter their preferred colleges and courses in order of priority until 10am on June 30. The mock seat allotment result will be announced at 11am on July 6. Candidates will be allowed to add, delete, modify or rearrange their options until July 9. The final seat allotment result will be published on July 15.The final seat matrix is, however, not yet ready. It is expected to be ready by the time students enter their options and the mock results are announced. “The seat matrix for Agriculture, Veterinary Science and BSc Nursing courses has already been released. For engineering courses, only the draft seat matrix has been published, and KEA is awaiting the final version. Once available, all details will be uploaded to the website. Until then, candidates need not wait and may enter their options based on the draft seat matrix,” said a press release from KEA.No Pre-Round CounsellingTo avoid delays for students seeking admission to non-medical courses due to NEET re-examination issue, KEA has decided to drop its earlier plan of conducting a pre-round seat allotment. The counselling process will begin directly with the first round, as done previously.“The pre-round proposal would have allowed candidates who received their preferred seats to proceed with admission immediately. However, many stakeholders requested that candidates be given opportunities similar to those available in the first round, including seat upgradation options. Therefore, KEA decided not to implement the pre-round system,” said H Prasanna, executive director, KEA.
