'Called boy to his house, locked door': UP teacher suspended for unnatural sexual assault bid on student

BALLIA: A government primary school teacher in Uttar Pradesh has been suspended for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a 14-year-old boy, a Basic Education Department official said on Friday.The accused, Ghulam Mustafa alias Pappu (50), was posted at the government primary school in Sisotar village. District Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Manish Singh said the teacher was suspended on Thursday following the allegations. He said orders have been issued for a disciplinary inquiry into the matter. Strict action will be taken against the accused teacher after the inquiry report is received, he added.According to police, Mustafa allegedly called the boy to his house on July 5 on the pretext of assigning him some work.Once the boy arrived, he allegedly locked the door and attempted to sexually assault him. On the basis of a written complaint by the boy, a case was registered against Mustafa under the relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.According to PTI, police arrested the accused teacher on Monday. After completing the necessary legal formalities, he was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)(With agency inputs)
