Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Congress on Wednesday demanded an inquiry into the recruitment of haemodialysis technicians under the Gujarat Dialysis Programme, warning that questionable qualifications could compromise patient safety and jeopardise lives across the state.Addressing reporters at the GPCC headquarters, spokesperson Parthivrajsinh Kathavadia cited a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report for 2023–25 that raised doubts over the validity of certificates submitted by candidates during the hiring process. Kathavadia said: “Of the 662 technicians recruited across more than 250 dialysis centres, 346 technicians had submitted certificates issued by Bharat Sevak Samaj, a voluntary organization. The CAG report for 2023-25 has questioned the basis for recognizing these certificates, citing a lack of supporting documentary evidence to establish their eligibility.”He also questioned the current outsourcing recruitment process being utilized by health authorities. “The agency has stated that candidates selected for the posts will be required to pass Class XII exam within a year of appointment,” he alleged, calling it an unacceptable risk to healthcare standards. The party demanded strict action against officials responsible for these appointments.
