Flee with Rs 2 Lakh In Cash, Gold ItemsLucknow: Burglars struck a locked house in Gomti Nagar’s upscale Vivek Khand area and decamped with gold jewellery, Rs 2 lakh in cash and documents while the elderly homeowner was away in Hyderabad, police said.An FIR was registered at Gomti Nagar police station on the complaint of Lancelot Joseph Fuller (73), a retired resident of House No. 3/207, Vivek Khand. According to police, Fuller and his wife had left for Hyderabad around 15 days earlier to visit their daughter. He had handed over the main gate key to his domestic help for watering plants, while the house remained locked.The theft came to light on Aug 2 when the domestic help found the locks of the grille gate and main wooden door broken. She alerted neighbour Alok Mishra, who informed the police control room.Police and forensic teams later inspected the house after Fuller returned to Lucknow. During stock-taking, he found several valuables missing, including gold bangles, Tanishq jewellery sets, gold pendants, earrings, a gold cross pendant, nearly Rs 2 lakh in cash and two Ayushman Bharat senior citizen health cards. The stolen jewellery is estimated to weigh over 100 grams.ADCP, east zone, Amol Murkut, said that an FIR has been registered and the police are examining forensic evidence and scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the burglars.
