BRS dodging debate on debt, says Jupally

Hyderabad: The war of words between tourism minister Jupally Krishna Rao and BRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao continued on Friday, with the former reaching the Somajiguda Press Club for a debate on the debt incurred during the previous BRS govt’s tenure.“BRS president and former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao must respond to the debt statistics cited by me. I invited KCR, BRS working president KT Rama Rao and deputy floor leader Harish Rao to the Somajiguda Press Club. But they did not turn up for a discussion or debate on the issue. At least now, they should conduct their political life based on values,” Jupally said.Stating that the debt figures being quoted by KTR and Harish were incorrect, the minister questioned why they had failed to respond to the loans borrowed through the Kaleshwaram corporation during the BRS regime. “Does the loan obtained for the Kaleshwaram project does not come under debt?” Jupally asked.“If the previous BRS govt had been administered properly, why would there be questions today over the the huge debt it left behind? Jupally asked. Stating that he would resign if his claims on the debt were proved wrong, the minister challenged the BRS top leadership to resign if his claims were proven true. “I presented the data on debt that was disclosed during the BRS govt’s tenure and not from the incumbent Congress govt term,” he said.Replying to queries, Jupally said he did not know why Harish was detained when he went to the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial located at Gun Park. “I was at Gandhi Bhavan receiving grievances from people. Just then Harish held a press meet at Telangana Bhavan and announced that he was going to the Martyrs Memorial. I don’t know whether there was any law and order issue or something else. Later, I came to know that Harish had been detained,” he said.
