Fazilka: A suspicious object resembling a bomb was discovered in a field on Thursday in Fazilka district near the India-Pakistan international border. According to reports, the incident occurred in the border village of Muhar Khiva. While a farmer was ploughing his field, a heavy, suspicious iron object resembling a bomb emerged from the ground. Recognising the potential danger, the local administration and security forces were immediately informed. Fazilka Sadar station house officer Hardev Singh Bedi said a police team was dispatched to the site immediately upon receiving the information. Border Security Force officials also arrived at the scene.In a joint operation, security forces first sealed off the area. To avert any potential danger, the suspicious object was enclosed within a protective perimeter created using bags filled with soil and sand, ensuring no untoward incident occurs. He further stated that the Army or the Punjab police’s specialised bomb disposal squad was notified to neutralise (destroy) the suspicious object. Until the expert team arrives and completely destroys it, a heavy police force was deployed in the field and the surrounding area for security reasons, and the movement of the general public was restricted.
