NEW DELHI: YouTuber Dhruv Rathee on Sunday displayed his Indian passport in a video and asserted that he was an Indian citizen, rejecting claims about his nationality.“I am Indian citizen, yeh hai mera passport, mein Indian citizen hoon, aur rehunga, (This is my passport. I am an Indian citizen, and I will remain one)” Rathee said in the video posted on X.Rathee accused sections of the media of spreading misinformation about his citizenship to justify his detention. He also rejected claims that he had given an undertaking that he would not participate in any further protest.The YouTuber claimed he was taken from his residence by people in plain clothes on Saturday morning. According to Rathee, around 20 people entered his house around 7 am while he was sleeping and took him away before he could ask who they were.He said he was taken to different police stations and was not allowed to contact his lawyer or access a phone for around 22-23 hours. He also claimed he sustained injuries while being taken out of his bedroom.Rathee criticised the restrictions imposed ahead of the protest, describing the situation as an “unofficial emergency”. He said he would continue to raise his voice on issues concerning the country.He further claimed that people were monitoring his movements and that he was unable to leave his house.
