Noida: A cash collection executive associated with one of the Blinkit distributor stores has been arrested for allegedly staging a fake robbery to misappropriate nearly Rs 4 lakh that he was supposed to deposit in a bank. He had filed a complaint at the Beta-2 police station claiming he had been robbed. His plan, however, unravelled after police found inconsistencies in his complaint and recovered the entire amount from his car.DCP Greater Noida Ravi Shankar Nim said the cash agent Puneet Kumar Vashisht was arrested near Mahanandan T-point on Thursday. He worked in the cash collection department of Vaishnavi Enterprises, a distributor associated with Blinkit stores. He was responsible for depositing the collected cash in the bank.Vashisht collected Rs 3.88 lakh from Purvanchal Royal City on Aug 18 and was taking the money to the bank in his car. However, according to the police, he removed the spare wheel from the car and hid the cash underneath the floor mat. He then called the police emergency helpline and raised a false alarm.He allegedly claimed he had parked his car near Jatan Bhati Golchakkar and stepped out to relieve himself when three men on two motorcycles arrived, broke the car’s window and fled with the cash bag. Based on his complaint, police registered a case under BNS sections for theft and mischief.As part of the investigation, police questioned employees and the owner of the distributor company and examined the circumstances surrounding the alleged robbery. They found discrepancies in Vashisht’s account, which raised their suspicion. Vashisht was then arrested and the cash was recovered from his car.Police have dropped the previous charges from the case and added BNS sections for breaching trust, stealing property and giving false information to the police.
