Kolkata: Justice Prakash Shrivastava, chairperson of National Green Tribunal (NGT), visited Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden on Saturday and planted saplings.An official said the tree plantation programme was organised under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign in Endemic and Threatened Plant Section of Indian Botanic Garden, as part of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 initiative.Justice Shrivastava arrived in Kolkata on an official visit.“The activity highlighted the importance of protecting endemic and threatened plant species and nurturing India’s rich botanical heritage. The plantation programme conveyed a meaningful message of environmental responsibility,” said an NGT official.Justice Shrivastava also planted saplings at Victoria Memorial.
