BJP turned blind eye on KLIP irregularities: Cong

Hyderabad: Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday said BJP national president Nitin Nabin lacked an understanding of national politics as well as the political situation in Telangana.“Nabin was either inadequately briefed by Telangana BJP leaders or was unaware of the corruption and alleged irregularities that took place under the previous BRS govt. The BJP chief should first acquaint himself with his party’s earlier stand on the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. BJP leaders had once termed it an ‘ATM for the BRS, ’ alleged Kiran Kumar Reddy.Speaking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan, he questioned the Modi govt’s inaction, noting that BJP leaders had earlier claimed those responsible for alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project could be brought to justice within 48 hours if the case were handed over to the CBI.“Despite the Telangana govt formally seeking a CBI probe, the investigation has not begun to date,” he claimed. The Congress MP also said that former UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi had fulfilled the aspirations of the people by granting statehood to Telangana. He further challenged the BJP to disclose how many jobs had actually been provided against the promises made in its 2014 election manifesto.Claiming that the BJP had no real agenda to come to power in Telangana, he alleged that the party relied on ‘match-fixing’ in elections with the BRS, and urged Nabin to review the BJP’s vote share in the 2019 and 2024 elections before making political statements on the state.
