Varanasi: BJP workers and office-bearers on Friday staged a protest in Varanasi against Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, accusing him of engaging in appeasement politics.The protest march began from JP Mehta Inter College and proceeded to the district headquarters. During the demonstration, BJP workers raised slogans and burnt an effigy of the SP chief.Addressing the gathering, BJP leaders alleged that the SP was pursuing vote-bank politics, while the BJP remained committed to nationalism, cultural heritage and Sanatan values.The speakers described Lord Ram as a symbol of faith, culture and dignity, and said respecting him was the duty of every citizen.Protesters also raised slogans, including, “Jo Prabhu Shri Ram ka na hua, woh kisi ka nahin hoga.”Organisers said the protest was aimed at expressing public anger over recent developments and conveying their message to the people.Former BJP district president and DCF chairman Rakesh Singh Alagu, former divisional president and councillor Siddhnath Sharma, Ajit Singh, Ratan Kumar Maurya, Kamlesh Sonkar and other party workers were present.
