Chandigarh: Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon on Monday dismissed the Bhagwant Mann govt’s offer of free electricity motor connections under its reintroduced land pooling policy, calling it “a completely absurd move and a cruel joke on the state’s farmers”.Questioning the offer, Dhillon asked, “If the govt acquires farmers’ agricultural land through the land pooling policy, where will the farmers install these motor connections, and what use will they be to them?”He claimed farmers had already rejected the policy because they did not want to part with their land, and had not sought higher compensation or residential plots in return.Alleging that AAP was trying to push through a policy earlier opposed by farmers, Dhillon said, “AAP’s tainted and defeated leaders from Delhi have set their sights on Punjab’s valuable agricultural land.”He also targeted AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, alleging he was attempting to revive a policy that had earlier been withdrawn. Dhillon said the BJP would oppose any move it considered “anti-farmer”.
