Surat: A 40-year-old man was brought to the Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research (SMIMER) on Friday after suffering a snakebite, arriving with the dead reptile in a plastic bag.The patient, a textile unit owner and resident of Sarthana, was admitted for treatment and is currently in stable, hospital officials said.According to details provided at the hospital, the man runs a textile unit in an industrial society in the Saniya area. He had gone to his unit, on the fourth floor of a building, on Friday morning when a snake bit him twice on the leg. He said he then struck the snake with a piece of wood and killed it.Emergency services were alerted and a 108 ambulance transported him to SMIMER. On arrival, Kotadiya reported two bites and showed the dead snake to medical staff, indicating it was the one that attacked him.Doctors initiated treatment based on the bite history and monitored him for symptoms typically associated with envenomation. Hospital staff said his condition is stable.The victim bringing the snake to the hospital was a prudent move, as identification of the species can help clinicians assess risk and plan appropriate management.“The patient was told to get admitted, as free treatment is available. The patient was provided immediate treatment and his condition is stable,” a hospital official said.
