Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) functionary Bikram Singh Majithia on Thursday alleged that chief minister Bhagwant Mann had “scored a self-goal” by changing his stand on the controversial video “for the third time” instead of presenting his case before the Akal Takht.Addressing a press conference, Majithia claimed Mann had initially described the video as AI-generated, later denied that the person seen in it was him, and had now claimed the person was wearing a mask resembling him.“Instead of submitting before Sri Akal Takht Sahib and seeking forgiveness, the chief minister is trying to refute the findings of the supreme seat of the Sikh community,” he alleged.Majithia also questioned why the video had not been sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Chandigarh, or another govt-approved laboratory for examination. Instead, he alleged, senior police officers were tasked with procuring fake forensic reports.Demanding action against the officers concerned, he alleged that an impartial probe would expose the alleged conspiracy as well as the money trail behind it. He also sought an explanation from AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and demanded a separate probe into what he alleged were attempts to disturb communal harmony in Punjab.Addressing a separate press conference, SAD leader Parambans Singh Romana questioned Mann’s claim that the person in the video was wearing a mask. Referring to what he described as the original and a cloned TikTok account of Jagman Samra, Romana alleged the chief minister had relied on a fake video to support his defence. He also questioned why the purported Gurgaon forensic reports referred to facial recognition tests but made no mention of a mask if one had indeed been used.
