Kota: A 20-year-old NEET aspirant from Madhya Pradesh allegedly died by suicide at her rented flat in Landmark City Tuesday night.The deceased, Khooshbu Patel, a resident of Chhatarpur, was found hanging by her younger sister Khushi, who is preparing for JEE in Kota.Police said Khushi returned to the flat around 9pm after attending classes in Jawahar Nagar and found the door locked from inside. After repeated knocking drew no response, she sought help. Later, the security guards managed to open the door with the help of a locksmith.She was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.Kunhadi circle inspector Devesh Bhardwaj said Khooshbu was preparing for her second attempt at NEET-UG. She had scored around 450 marks in her previous attempt and was reportedly distressed over not achieving the desired score.Assistant sub-inspector Anil Kumar said no suicide note was recovered from the spot. The body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination Wednesday morning.Police said the ceiling fan in the rented flat did not have an anti-hanging device, which is mandatory for fans in Kota hostel rooms under the hostel association’s rules.The incident is the eighth reported death by suicide of a coaching student in Kota since Jan this year.
