Gurgaon: A 50-year-old bike taxi driver died after an unknown vehicle allegedly hit him near Hero Honda Chowk Thursday morning and fled the spot.The deceased, Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Begumpur, was driving along the National Highway service road towards Jaipur when a vehicle allegedly struck him down at around 6.30 am. A few minutes later, police received a call that an injured man was lying on the roadside and rushed to the spot.Ramesh suffered severe head injuries and was declared dead soon afterwards. According to the police, his body has been sent for autopsy and will be handed over to the family thereafter.Police are investigating the matter further to identify the accused driver. “We are speaking to witnesses, and scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the sequence of events and determine whether negligence or overspeeding caused the crash.” a police officer said.
